Wigan's finest purveyors of 'stupid cool',
Moco are back with a new single 'Miss Mantaray' to be released
June 16th on Poolside Records. 'Miss Mantaray' is the third
single to be produced by John Kettle and also the band's follow
up to last year's well received 'Where She Goes'. ID urged
everyone to 'find this record at all costs', The Fly described
it simply as 'divine' and the NME made it 'Single Of The Week',
describing it as 'a shameless reprisal of all the Velvet Underground's
best moments, played very loud, and all at once
more
please'
'More' just arrived in the form of 'Miss Mantaray'. 'Miss
Mantaray' is a fine second single and a paradigm of the depth
in the band's mongrel pop sound; coming over, as it does,
like The Psychedelic Furs and The Rezillos with a dash of
Soft Cell and a healthy portion of ZZ Top on the side. It's
also a testament to singer Steve Mobile Jones, a man who can
sing "oooh, I'm so in love with you" and sound like
a sociopath rather than a wet lettuce. The single will also
feature the track 'She's Fine' and instrumental of 'Miss Mantaray'.
