The attention to detail in Minority Report
is outstanding. All aspects of the vision of the world in
which Tom Cruise stars were meticulously mapped out, including
theories of what the internet will be like in 2054.
By 2054, technology will be integrated into
our everyday lives so that our surroundings and experiences
will be customized to our individual preferences and needs.
Microchips will even be embedded in everyday objects such
as jewelry and clothing, allowing for personalization according
to mood, time of day, temperature, and other factors that
we will be able to select.
In the home, there will no longer be a need
for the box in the corner the computer,
game system, and home cinema will be combined into one flexible
Internet interface. The screen will be part of a wall, or
the wall itself, textured according to ones personal
taste and dimmed or brightened automatically depending on
the lighting in the room. The console will be voice activated
or fingerprint locked. Touch your hand to the screen and fingerprint
recognition will initiate your personalized home page, complete
with information youve pre-selected, as well as information
selected for you based upon your established preferences and
daily activities.
Wearing a wireless glove, you will be able
to set up and organize a series of windows that give you access
to information and media of all kinds. You will literally
write commands in the air and watch as your handwritten requests
are processed. Sign a bill and post it online. Write a letter
and have it translated into any language for friends or business
associates around the world. Via sensors encoded in the interface,
this ultimate personal assistant will order your groceries
based on what it senses in the refrigerator, remind
you to put fuel in the car when it senses youre running
low, and tell you what the lunch special is at your favorite
deli. Yes, in 2054 the Internet will be watching you!
