Watch the video for M.I.A’s new single Paper Planes released on March 3rd 2008 through XL Records, Paper Planes is taken from her fantastic 2nd album Kala.

Paper Planes is set to be one of the alternative tracks of the year, featuring M.I.A’s unique, kaleidoscopic blend of global street sounds layered over a looped section of The Clash’s ‘Straight To Hell’. With an anthemic chorus that’s peppered with crystal clear gunshot and ringing cash registers, the M.I.A / Switch co-produced Paper Planes brilliantly manages to be euphoric, narcotic and unashamedly pop all at the same time. The single will also be accompanied by a Bernard Gourley-directed video that was shot in Brooklyn.

Paper Planes will be available on 12” vinyl and download which will feature remixes from James Murphy of DFA, Afrikan Boy & Rye Rye, Diplo and Scottie B, plus a remix of Kala’s ‘Bamboo Banga’ from DJ Eli.
