Meet the Parents Special Edition DVD out on 17th January 2005

Universal Pictures UK is releasing Meet the Parents Special Edition DVD on 17th January 2005 to coincide with the theatrical release of the follow up film ‘Meet the Fockers’ on 28th January.

Starring Ben Stiller (Dodgeball, Starsky and Hutch, There’s something about Mary) and Academy Award® winner Robert De Niro (Sharktale, Casino, Godfather part II), Meet the Parents is a must-own, comedy blockbuster that the whole family will enjoy. Originally released in December 2000, the film is directed by Jay Roach, and took £15.5million at the UK box office.

Gaylord “Greg” Focker (Ben Stiller) is a Jewish male nurse who plans to propose to his girlfriend Pam (Teri Polo). However, her strict father Jack Byrnes, (Robert De Niro) expects to be asked for permission first. Thus begins the visit from hell as the two travel to meet Mum (Blythe Danner) and Dad, who turns out to be a former CIA agent with a lie detector in his basement. Greg’s quest for approval turns him into a master of disaster as everything that can go wrong does, including the disappearance of Dad’s beloved cat Jinx.

The Special Edition DVD includes never-seen-before extras including a hilarious karaoke scene with Robert De Niro, 35 out-takes and an insight into how Jinx the Cat was trained to perform tricks. A new cast interview reveals the inside story of Greg and Pam’s disaster-prone romance and the hilarious events leading up to the outrageous sequel.
