23 year old Californian Matt Costa is set to release his debut album "Songs We Sing" on 24th April through Brushfire/Island Records.

It's not often a terrible injury can be considered a positive thing but you might able to make the argument for singer-songwriter Matt Costa. Well on his way to a pro skateboard career he shattered his leg at 19 in an accident. Facing 18 months of rehabilitation he redirected his energy, passion and talent towards the guitar, a much safer hobby. Homemade demos earned Matt the attention of No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont (who offered to record more demos at his home studio and went on to produce the album) and Jack Johnson (who signed Matt to his label).

The evocative life snapshot "Cold December" will also be released as a single on 24th April, accompanied by a video shot in the cold Nevada desert. The promo was directed by filmmaker Emmett Malloy who has also directed for Blink 182 and the Foo Fighters.

Matt is currently on tour throughout Europe with Jack Johnson, and is confirmed to perform at 5 major festivals in the US, starting with Coachella on Apri 29th.
