Maktub's new CD if finally here -- Say What You Mean, the highly anticipated new album from the band voted "Best Band" by Seattle Weekly, beating out hometown heroes and international superstars alike, including Seattle brethren Pearl Jam.

The members of Maktub have all done their time as rock n' roll Gypsies -- playing in countless local bands, but never feeling like it was quite right. That is, not until Kevin Goldman came to Seattle with a bass guitar in hand and met Davis Martin, at which point it suddenly felt just right! When Davis called on local singer Reggie Watt, known for his swoon-inducing falsetto and gorgeous Afro, it was almost too perfect. Add Thaddeus Turner on guitar, and Daniel Spils on keys and it was time to unleash Maktub on the unsuspecting Seattle scene. The band wrote their first song together on the first day of practice, and have two previously released disks that they put out themselves. Say What You Mean marks the third release from this critically acclaimed quintet, and the first proper Velour Records release since the label signed the band after they sold over 20,000 copies of their second record, Kronos, on their own.
