AKA Even Johansen
originally from Bergen, Norway now lives up in Scotland. Even's
had musical tendencies ever since he was little. His Father
was part of a Norwegian swing/jazz dance troupe, and Even used
to play on his four string guitar. He took his unusual name
after an incident in his early teens and the name Magnet has
stayed with him ever since. After being diagnosed as anemic
(Iron deficiency) when he was 13 Even visited his father's rock'n'roll
doctor whilst on holiday ("I think he may have been a drug
dealer, but he was wearing a white lab coat"). Said doctor
sent a young Johansen to a half Chinese, half Indian medicine
man, who tattooed him with a Magnet in "Special" ink.
After passing out from the pain, Even woke up to find that he
was feeling better. "I was stupid enough to believe it,
but believing can work wonders."
Magnet made his UK Debut in June when he released the 'Where
Happiness Lives EP' and continues to establish his own unique
sound with his next single Chasing Dreams (mixed by Steve Osbourne)
and released on the 7th of October through Ultimate Dilemma
Records.
Using an array of personal influences Even creates highly
emotive songs, rich with experience and realism, compacted
into personal, electrifying records.
