Def Jam South and Disturbing Tha Peace Presents… Ludacris with his brand new single ‘Number One Spot’, which is released on the 25th April 2005. The single is taken from his latest album ‘The Red Light District’ which entered the US charts at the Number One spot and proved once again that Ludacris is the king of the dirty south.

‘Number One Spot’ was produced and recorded by Eminem’s DJ of choice Green Lantern at The Ludaplex, Atlanta. Between the two of them they have created an irresistible slice of hip hop built around a sample of Quincy Jones’s ‘Soul Bossa Nova’. The Austin Powers movies brought this Motown classic from 1964 into the public conscience and now Ludacris has stolen it once again and turned it into the biggest club tune of 2005. The rhymes on the track make reference to Austin Powers and with Ludacris’s record of making awesome videos he took the opportunity and has a made a video that pays homage to the movies with Ludacris playing out many of the characters from Dr Evil to Fat Bastard. The video even boasts an appearance from Quincy Jones and Mini-Me Verne Troyer. The single includes the previously unavailable ‘Get Back’ (Sum 41 Rock Mix) which sees Ludacris joined by the Canadian skate punk rockers Sum 41 for a hard hitting version of ‘Get Back’ that packs a bigger punch than Ludacris’s mighty fists from the Spike Jonze directed video for ‘Get Back’.

On March 3rd Ludacris held a launch party for his album in the world famous Red Light District; Amsterdam. The night included a live performance by the man himself and… well you know what happens in Amsterdam so you can guess the rest. Ludacris will also be releasing a DVD later in the year which explores the fantastically, seedy underworld of sex, drugs and hip-hop. The viewer will travel with Ludacris from Atlanta to Amsterdam – checking out all the Red Light Districts right across the world. Added to this he is set to carry on with his movie career which will see him in the upcoming film ‘Crash’ alongside Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Eva Mendes, Thandie Newton and Matt Dillon.
