There was, if memory serves, a burst of these slow sort of epics around the mid-to-late nineties, and to be honest they didn’t have too much of an impact then. So five years later Longview are at it again, and to be honest, it isn’t doing too much this time round either. Rob McVey’s voice is stuck somewhere between Elbow’s Guy Garvey and Morrissey, but with none of the real redeeming features of either of the above. It is, however, more rainy day music, if you tend to like sitting by yourself a lot though.
