At just under ten minutes in length, Midnight Surprise is the beautifully epic second single from Lightspeed Champion and a taste of what forthcoming 2008 debut LP, Falling Off The Lavender Bridge, will offer. With humorous references to his own stage name, the popular video game The Legend Of Zelda and to sexual frustration, Midnight Surprise is a dreamlike hook-laden tale in 3 parts. Two versions of the video have been made; a ten minute as well as a three minute condensed version, featuring a boy and a girl in love and entwined in their dreams.

Backing vocals are courtesy of Emmy The Great and group vocals from members of Tilly & The Wall, Son, Ambulance, and other musicians from Omaha, Nebraska where the album was recorded with producer Mike Mogis.

B Side track Flesh Failures (Let The Sunshine In) is a beautiful rendition of the widely known track from the musical Hair.
