Super Duper Love
With Stone being so well known for
covering the White Stripes’ ‘Fell
in Love With a Girl’ it was always going to be interesting
to see how she followed it up. ‘Super Duper Love’ certainly
isn’t bad but it’s not great either, it feels
like she’s trying to emulate soul greats like Aretha
Franklin and ending up a bit early/mid nineties teen pop.
Another thing is she’s young and sounds it at times
which can take away from the song. The b-side, a live cover
of the soul classic ‘This is a Man’s World’,
is a decent attempt but it’s been done before many
times and more original stuff would have been appreciated.
