Idiot Pilot
A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark - February 6th
Compared to the likes of Radiohead, Deftones, Blood Brothers, Death From Above 1979 and The Mars Volta, Idiot Pilot create a style of music that's propulsive, violent and enticingly melodic. It's a startlingly original music outlook that makes their debut album 'Strange We Should Meet Here' such a compelling listen.
'Strange We Should Meet Here' is preceded by the release of the single 'A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark' on February 6th. The single is backed with a remix by Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.
Hailing from Washington, Idiot Pilot consists of Daniel Anderson (instruments) and Michael Harris (vocals). Throughout highlights such as 'To Buy A Gun' and 'A Day In The Life Of A Poolshark', Idiot Pilot delivers a powerful music statement with soundscapes as eerily beautiful as they're crushingly aggressive. "We wanted a find a juxtaposition between the most emotionally charged music we knew, mixed with the cold logic of electronic sounds," says Harris. "It's the tension between them that excited us." "The building blocks for what we do come from three completely different styles," adds Anderson. "The first is the glitchy electronica of artists like Squarepusher and the whole Warp Records thing. We also draw from more hardcore bands like The Blood Brothers as well as pop groups such as U2 and The Cure."
The duo have previously toured with Team Sleep, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Killswitch Engage and Open Hand. They have also collaborated with Deftones for a version of 'Teenager' that was featured on their 'B-Sides and Rarities' compilation.
