We are living in a world where we can't even take a shit without reading adverts for STD cream on the back of the toilet door. People are borrowing and spending in the hope that it will put smiles on their faces, in the hope that they will look and feel like the nameless and faceless poster-boys and girls in the adverts that they devour on a daily basis. Nobody is happy, everyone is pretending, we surround ourselves with enough materialism that personal relationships become irrelevant. We think we're satisfying needs and wants but were not. The only people we're satisfying are the advertisers.

To do this they have matched their sloganeering vocal chants with the kind of upstart dirty rock 'n' roll riff that would sit well with Primal Scream at their dirtiest or early Stooges at their most caustic. The song is also accompanied by a controversial video directed by the band and Mark Downes.

Diet Pills and Magazines is a three minute rock n roll party with a serious message. And that message is…If our own personal greed continues to proportionately match the greed of the masters of industry, if we keep on dancing to their tune, then we will be the sealers of our own sorry fate. Or in lay mans terms, If we don't wise up then were all fucked!
