I haven’t heard of Hexstatic before but I had a feeling it would be good if released of the Ninja Tunes label. I wasn’t disappointed as ‘Distorted Minds’ is a great mix of MCing on progressive breaks. The music is atmopheric and has that scientifical madness that Kool Keith has. It’s pretty dark with a brooding eeriness to it created by mad synth sounds and heavy Massive Attack style boom beats. It creates a uniquely original sound that is pushing boundaries and

keeps the keen mind captivated. Juice Aleem’s mcing is fresh with a lot of personality and again reminds me of the Kool Keith style. ‘Perfect Bird’ is also featured on this single and is a wonderful journey into the ambient realm of music. It still has that brooding break beat sound however it’s more sweeter than ‘Distorted Minds’. I really liked this single and I’m sure we’ll seeing a lot more from Hexstatic.
