Underground legend Gucci Mane has made quite a name for himself since last year's release of his ghetto platinum independent debut Trap House. Within a calendar of the album's release, the Birmingham, Ala. native penetrated the southern rap scene with the gaudy, diamond-crusted runaway smash "Icy," engaged in verbal war with one of rap's most shining rising talents.

Enduring the perilous pitfalls of the streets while enjoying the success of moving more than 125,000 units without the aid of major label endorsements, the rough-edged survivor returns with his aptly titled Big Cat Records follow-up album Hard To Kill.

Known to the Fulton County authorities as Radric Davis, Gucci Mane first moved to the A-town with his mother during his fourth grade year and settled on Atlanta's uncompromising East Side. And by his fourteenth birthday, young Gucci was in a recording booth pursuing a career in rap.

Gucci garnered citywide fame after serving up debut single "Black Tee" to the masses on his own La Flare Entertainment label. As the single bubbled radio, it caught the attention of another well-known local independent heavy weight Big Cat Records. With strength in numbers, the two independents joined forces.

Now riding high off the previous album's long-term momentum, Gucci's sizzling lead single "Go Head" featuring flirtatious female Mac Breezy has already been bubbling some time now on radio and in clubs. Atop a mid-tempo, Nitty-produced banger, Gucci serenades all sizes, shapes, textures and colors of his thick-bottomed dime pieces.

On semi-autobiographical "Everybody Know Me," he confronts all of his demons- from growing up in the hood broke and penniless to being an accused felon to standing trial in the press. In a laidback, conversational flow, he testifies: "Nowadays I stay on the news/ My every move ends up on the tube/ Whoever said being a gangsta was easy?/ I got beef with BMF and I got problems with Jeezy."

Other standouts are the picture perfect floss fest "Hold That Thought," the rugged trap soundtrack anthem "Street N!@@#*" and the official hot single, "My Chain" featuring Black Magic, where Mr. So Icy once again pays homage to his blinding princess cuts and marquises.

More than just delivering a stellar sophomore album, Gucci brings forth one man's determination to overcome any tribulation that life may hand him. And Hard To Kill is a testament of Gucci's permanent staying power. Stand strong!
