Groove Armada
Purple Haze
21 October 2002
Zomba Recordings
Chill out Guru's Groove Armada are not an act that would
usually be associated with such a raucous track as Purple
Haze but the duo have Excelled once again, the Armada who
previously released the singles like My Friend and At the
River now bring us the diverse Purple Haze. Keep the magical
wisdom behind most of Groove Armada's music add a dose of
hip hop thanks to Kentucky based Nappy Roots laid over the
lyrics of Jamaican MC, Red Rat, with a lacing of bad attitude,
through in some down and dirty guitar Riffs similar to the
one used in The Guess Who's American Woman (covered by Lenny
Kravitz) Picture this mix and you come somewhere close to
this single. Purple Haze is definitely one of the strongest
tracks that I have listened to in months. Taken off the Armadas
future album Love Box (due out on the on the 4th of November)
I look forward to listening to some more of Groove Armada's
new tracks.
