Franz Ferdinand have announced details of the release of new single, The Fallen, on Domino Records on March 27th 2006. The third single is the explosive opening song taken from their number 1 album, You Could Have It So Much Better. A favourite of the band it celebrates 'the idea of looking around about you for your heroes & finding them sitting next to you in everyday life'.

The single was recorded as part of the album sessions in Scotland and New York and was produced by the band and Rich Costey.

Currently on tour in Australia as part of the Big Day Out festival, the band head to Japan in mid February, where they will play a sold-out Budokan show in Tokyo, before heading to South America to play a headline shows as well as support slots with U2.

The band completed a sold out UK tour in December with an unprecedented 4 night run at London's Alexandra Palace. The band are currently finalising plans for a further UK tour in the early summer before they head out to play festivals across Europe throughout the summer.

Fallen will be released on 2 x 7" and CD. One of the 7" formats will feature the mental reconstruction of The Fallen by acclaimed French duo Justice.

Franz Ferdinand are: Bob Hardy (bass), Nick McCarthy (guitar / keyboards / vocal), Alex Kapranos (vocals / guitar) & Paul Thomson (drums).

'This song is about someone I know coming back as the reincarnation of Christ, & imagining what they would do. In this my case turning water into wine & getting it on with Mary Magdalene.' – Alex Kapranos
'What's wrong with a little destruction?'
