This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race
Single Review
Fall Out Boy are back (not that it feels like they have been away) with their new Single This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race. They return after releasing the multi million selling debut album 'From Under The Cork Tree', and now we all know what these guys are all about it is time to make judgment on the new material.
No more hype, down to the nitty gritty with the first Single to come off the all-important second album. The thing about these guys is that you either love or hate them, there seems to be no in between, and when you get the likes of Jay Z wanting to feature on the album then expectation increases. This Ain't A Scene, it's An Arms Race is not up to the usual standard that you are used to & it also has a distinct lack of direction. Listening to this, Fall Out Boy sound like the Backstreet Boys with guitars. There is too much of a pop feel, but with the heavy sound of the guitars they are trying to sound rock like.
If This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race is set to promote the album, then ouch! Fall Out Boy need to get off the fence and decide what direction in which they need to go.
