Speaking to NME.COM about the winning entry, Shadow had this to say: "The reason I like the video is because it kind of looked like a skit on a Nintendo game from the 80s and it really stuck close to the
lyrics in the song. Every phrase that comes up in the track, there's a new scene that symbolises what the person is talking about. There's different little characters that symbolise words and stuff so there's a lot of different characters saying:
'This Time I'm Gonna Try It My Way' from the chorus. I was surprised how dark a lot of the entries were. To me the song is supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be feel good. There is a lot of wit in this video, it makes me laugh and that's why I
really liked it."
The clip features a video game barbershop quartet with moustaches along with birds hanging on a wire. "When they land on different wires it's like different notes on a guitar," he added. "It
doesn't look like any video I've seen. It is quite unique."
The winning 21-year-old Ukraine director Mykola Dosenko will pick up a £1,000 for his submission which will be shown globally.
This Time (I'm Gonna Try It My Way) is released on January 8 through Island Records.
