On October 30th Depeche Mode return to the fore with the stunning single 'Martyr' - their first new material since the international Number 1 album 'Playing The Angel'. Taken from the eagerly awaited Best Of collection, it's a powerful, hypnotic track written by Martin Gore and deftly confirms the band's iconic status.

Produced by Ben Hillier, of Doves and Blur fame, the new single is unrelenting, absolute Depeche Mode and sits immaculately amongst their luminous history. Surging with incandescent synths, a razor-sharp hook and Dave Gahan's emotive claims of being "a martyr for love", it is both irresistible and irrepressible.

Available on two CDs and DVD, 'Martyr' is released with a host of extras. CD1 contains the brilliant Booka Shade edit, CD2 features remixes by Paul Van Dyk and Alex Smoke - as well as the track 'Never Let Me Down' - while the DVD boasts the Booka Shade Travel Mix and the Dreher & S.M. Art B.N Reload remix. On the same date, 2 exclusive download only U-Myx versions of the track will be available, allowing fans to make their own remix of their own video of Martyr with no special equipment or knowledge necessary. Users can upload their mixes onto a website where they can review, rate or download other fan's mixes and videos.

Featuring 17 their most definitive singles to date - including the hits 'Just Can't Get Enough', 'Everything Counts' 'Personal Jesus', 'Enjoy The Silence' and 'Precious' - the forthcoming Best Of is compiled from 11 of the band's studio albums released between 1981 and 2006. A deluxe edition of the album will be released with a bonus DVD, containing work from Anton Corbijn, Clive Richardson, Stephane Sednaoui, Peter Care, Brian Griffin, John Hillcoat and Uwe Flade.

Since their arrival on the scene, Depeche Mode have inspired generations of new musicians while consolidating their considerable reputation. In the process they have sold over 72 million records and played to audiences in excess of 30 million. They remain one of the most highly regarded and passionately supported groups in modern music and have recently been nominated for Best Group at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006.

A special edition 3-disc set 'Touring The Angel: Live In Milan' was recently released. Recorded at Milan's Fila Forum on February 18th & 19th amid their hugely successful European tour, it sees the band at their live best with a pulsing sound, electric stage presence and ecstatic audience. Featuring the full-length live show and a host of exclusive extras, it is available on two DVDs and a live audio CD.

On October 2nd, they release the second instalment of their acclaimed remasters series. 'A Broken Frame' 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion' and 'Some Great Reward' will be available as special edition, collector's items complete with exclusive bonus material, lovingly revived artwork and incredibly rare footage.

Depeche Mode are: Dave Gahan, Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher and Martin Gore.
