All you Need Is Hate is the track from which The Delgados
named their current album 'Hate'. All the tracks on the new
album 'Hate' have a dark over-tone to them and this song is
no exception. All you Need Is Hate finds Alun Woodward replacing
the customary vocalist Emma Polock. The single features an
almost fluttering gentle string arrangement, everything about
this song carries a very gentle feeling yet the lyrical theme
is a celebration of hate. This gives an "oil & water"
type - pallet of contradiction, which I think is extremely
affective. The single also features a cover of 'Mr Blue Sky'
by the Kinks.
