'You're Out' is, very much like Dead Disco themselves, as stylish and sassy as a classic Modesty Blaise strip. It's dirty, sleazy electronic pop at its very best - and catchy as hell. Like DFA messing around with Gwen Stefani in a grotty NY studio. Only 'You're Out', the Leeds trio's first single for 679 Recordings, was actually recorded at producer de jour Greg Kurstin's sunny studio in LA. This is pop music for the 21st Century - edgy, utterly infectious and oozing with attitude of the best possible kind.
Dead Disco, the band say, represent 'that bit in between' - in between the rock bands who sound like pop groups, and the pop groups who sound like rock bands. 'You're Out' completely embodies that notion, occupying as it does an effortless and convincing middle ground without compromise. The larger than life pop-hooks, the spiky guitars, the sassy lyrics and the ridiculous immediacy, 'You're Out' is a crossover smash in waiting.
You're Out will be released on July 9th 2007.
