Dark Globe’s debut album ‘Tales
of Dirt and Sparks’ showcased 10 of their best tracks,
which had previously been released as singles. Their consistency
and creativity meant that they were perceived as pioneers
of the ‘breaks’ scene but their musical remit
has always been broader than a single genre would suggest.
From the all time classics ‘Mondo
Scoro’ and ‘Sprintian Posture’ released
whilst Dark Globe were signed to Leftfield’s Hard Hands
imprint, to the nu-skool breaks of ‘Bug On Lens’ and
the swirling bass drive genius of ‘Arnica’, released
on W9Y, Dark Globe’s evolving electric sound has gained
them worldwide respect.
Now, after spending some time on their
new album the Globe return with a monster and there’s
a fresh combination of quality remixes to. Wally Lopez, The
Fat Truckers & Steve Mackay (ex Pulp) and Dark Globe’s
own reinterpretation ‘Flypast’ will send the
dancefloor and music lovers crazy across the board, no matter
what their taste.
The original version is a bass driven,
emotive masterpiece. Amanda Ghost’s vocal caresses
the soul whilst Dark Globe’s crafted, warm but precise
production creates a shadowy world below. Dark Globe’s ‘Flypast’ mix
builds then blows you away. Tight, clean and super funky
it will knock you about with a heavy dose of funk, twisted
tech breaks and glimpses of Amanda’s beautiful vocals.
Wally Lopez’ crisp, hypnotic 4/4
version will turn house heads through 360 degrees with its
assuredly tough rhythms. He has gone to town on the vocal
sample and the outcome is breathtaking, while the Dub strips
it back down to the strings and beefs up the bottom end.
Doing as they do best, Fat Truckers have
provided another slanted, forward looking beat for the vocal
to nestle upto. A rough electronic bashment take that deserves
to be played very loudly indeed, it completes a diverse and
collectable remix package available individually on promo
12”.
‘Break My World’ is already
a Cool Cuts no.1 and Essential New Tune for Pete Tong who
has invited the band to play live on Radio 1, March 5th,
during Miami. Dark Globe are back and boy will you know
about it.
