On October 23rd Gusto Records return with another chunky slice of house, as they release Dab Hands' groove-laden 'DYOT (Do Your Own Thing)', a record with crossover written all over it.
'DYOT' takes a deep, bubbling bassline, peppers it with guitar twangs and uplifting keys and then wraps up the package with a Steve Edwards vocal, which is reminiscent of X-Press 2's 'Lazy'.
Dab Hands are made up of London DJ / producer Mark Wilkinson, fellow producers Richard Searle and Leo Elstob and vocalist Steve Edwards. Mark has been DJing since 1989 and has released a slew of tracks on the likes of Paper Recordings, Azuli and Defected, including the 2005 Miami and Ibiza anthem 'Supergood'.
He also finds time to keep his record-spinning hand in, with gigs at The End / AKA, The Cross, Fabric and Turnmills, to name but a few. In between gigs and the studio, Mark also runs Kidology Records, has notched up the odd top ten hit in the form of his remix of Lou Reed's 'Satellite Of Love' and hosts a show on Ministry Of Sound Radio every Friday. Vocalist Steve Edwards is no newcomer to the scene either, having honed his soulful vocals on recent releases from the likes of Bob Sinclar, Axwell and Cassius.
