It’s more fun, comical and downright
offensive lyrically. Eminem does lots of catchy chorus’s
that gives the songs sing along elements and head bopping
effects which is quite trademark these days with Shady Records.
Eminem has produced most of the tracks that are funky, distinctive,
bouncy and subliminally effective. Dre even features on one
of the stand out tracks on the album ‘American Psycho
II.’ The music has a real hip-hop feel and uses simple
samples that work well.
I don’t feel that I’ve
learnt much from this record however they display good
hip hop skills that is modern and there is a surprising
lack of bling which is a bonus. It’s a formula that
works well and sells, so if you like Slim Shady and D12,
it’s a bit more of the same so may be worth a purchase.
I suppose it’s good that there is so much opportunity
to produce hip hop these days, however I hope the days
of hip hop being solid and underground aren’t diluted
by some self indulgent displays of rock ‘n’ roll
hip hop that is featured on this album.
