| CLAY
formed around Justin Clayton, a singer songwriter originally
from Liverpool. They release their debut single Collide
(Smallman Records) on 11th November 2002.
Never knowingly unadventurous, Clayton has
moved from Liverpool to London, New York to LA and always
back to writing and recording. His band have recorded a debut
release which is a unique blend of influences and experiences.
Clays debut single is written about
the chemistry that can still exist between ex-lovers. Collide
is about meeting up with the girl after its all gone sour
and the feeling you still get when youre not sure about
the relationship because the chemistry is still there,
says Justin.
Co-produced by Marty Willson Piper, member
of legendary indie-guitar band The Church, Clays sound
evokes the same warmth and edginess of Bowies Spiders
from Mars, Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac, early Zeppelin
and Teenage Fanclub and the sonic pallet of Jeff Buckley or
Radiohead.
The single was recorded live-to-tape at
The Blue Room in Sweden, with Justin handling the vocals and
guitars, together with Jerker Odelholm on bass and Christer
Bjorklund on drums.
Collide is available on a 3-track
CD single. The other two tracks are Tragic and
No Worries. The second single and album are set
for release in the New Year.
