'4 AM' is the third single from Cherry Ghost, released on 24th September 2007 through Heavenly Recordings/EMI.

Their first album Thirst For Romance debuted in the Top 10 and received outstanding plaudits across the board. After a series of sell-out gigs around the UK and festival appearances at Glastonbury and Latitude among others, the band continue to find new fans with their unique blend of electrified poetic storytelling. Cherry Ghost are that rare thing - a commercially successful group who have got there on their own terms and by doing what they do best - which is quietly but persistently creating atmospheric, intelligent music that's not afraid to be bold. With a repertoire of songs that go way beyond catchy melodies and rousing choruses, Cherry Ghost manage to create a musical world of their own that's as strong and as all-encompassing as a fictional voice.

The new single gives the band a chance to pay homage to the American alt country they love, with its acoustic guitars, skiffle-led beat and dulcet harmonies worthy of their band namesake, Wilco. Lyrically, this is classic Cherry Ghost terrain, with songwriter Simon Aldred's trademark wistfulness shining through the chorus; 'There ain't no hiding place on Earth that loneliness ain't been first'. Musically, however, it's no lament. '4 AM' is a gentle stroll through late-night dives and hidden corners but for once we emerge into sunlight.
