A three-piece originally from Batimore and now based in Brooklyn, Celebration are raw, frenetic and undiluted, yet somehow remain accessible.
Already enjoying cult status stateside, there's a genuine buzz about them and their music. It's all about their highly-charged live performances; Katrina's intense energy and David's scattershot drumming are matched by Sean's multi-instrumental virtuosity - he plays an armoury of organs, electric keyboards, Moog bass pedals as well as a hand-built "guitorgan". Onstage, Sean's concentrated, four-limbed performances summon a dense, swirling sound which leaves David and Katrina free to follow their instincts - and the audience breathless.
For recording duties, TV On The Radio's David Sitek was at the controls. It's a meeting of minds, prompted by years of mutual admiration, and David certainly helped Celebration to realise their sonic potential – as he did with TV On The Radio, Liars and Yeah Yeah Yeahs before them. This producer / band partnership goes some way to explaining why Celebration's debut album is already doing so well.
'War' is the second single to be taken off the album.
