Blue October were formed in Houston, Texas in the late '90s by lead singer / songwriter/guitarist Justin Furstenfeld, his brother, drummer Jeremy, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Delahoussaye, and later joined by guitarist/vocalist CB Hudson and bassist Matt Noveskey.
A massive radio hit in the US, "Hate Me" was written by frontman Justin about his broken relationships with his friends and family and his subsequent efforts to take responsibility for his mistakes and apologise to those he's hurt (the song begins with a real voicemail from his mother).
Justin drew on his influences (Peter Gabriel to Pink Floyd, Flaming Lips and U2) when he turned co-producer on tracks "Everlasting Friend", "Into The Ocean" and "X Amount of Words". A huge fan of Imogen Heap, Justin called the British singer to see if she'd be interested in working with the band.. the result can be heard on the ethereal ballad "Congratulations".
Blue October are:
Justin Furstenfeld: lead vocals/guitar
CB Hudson: guitars/vocals
Ryan Delahoussaye: violin/mandolin/piano/vocals
Matt Noveskey: bass/vocals
Jeremy Furstenfeld: drums/vocals
