Green Day have a lot to answer for I'm afraid. If their whining brand of pop 'punk' offends you, then look (listen?) away now. Imagine Green Day entered into a bizarre competition where they are required to adopt a musical persona even snottier, whiny and bratt-ish than they already have, and you've got the measure of Billy Talent.

This oxymoronically named bunch of Canadians takes a nasally vocal, pseudo punk romp through all your new favourite sing-along anthems of packaged aggression, and finds themselves in exactly the same place as a thousand other examples MTV-fodder.

Let's hope that II doesn't become III.
