The artist otherwise known as Damon Gough has been a regular fixture of the British music scene since charting in 2000 with his debut, 'Hour Of The Bewilderment'. Regularly lauded with critical praise but without the sales to match, he has now released five albums, including 'Born In The U.K.', from which this single is lifted.

'Promises' is everything that has become characteristic of Badly Drawn Boy, a low tempo, gentle track with a soothing backing to near-spoken vocals. Based around a brooding piano, the second verse sees the song come to life with percussion and stirring strings, before a thudding bass elevates it further. It's an example of Gough's considerable talent, though is unlikely to bring much commercial success.
