Produced by the band with Andy Wallace (System of a Down, Linkin Park) on mixing duties, the eponymous album continues Avenged Sevenfold's burgeoning reputation as one of the most exciting bands on the contemporary metal scene. The result is an uncompromising collection laden with heavy riffage, fluid leads, battering rhythms and insistent hooks. Highlights of the set include the first single 'Almost Easy', the vehement opening track 'Critical Acclaim' and 'Dear God', which adds a dark country-tinge to the band's patented attack.

Avenged Sevenfold hit the road in style following the release of 'City of Evil' with festival slots at Warped (headliners), Reading, Leeds, Download, Rock IM Park and Rock AM Ring amongst their many live performances. 'City of Evil' highlighted influences such as Pantera, GnR, Iron Maiden and Bad Religion and went on to sell in excess of 800,000 copies in the US as well as 50,000 in the UK. The band also recently issued the 'All Excess' DVD that chronicles their rise to the top with a definitive, uncensored documentary featured alongside extra material including music videos, live performances and outtakes.
