In less than 18 months Ashlee Simpson has experienced more than some recording artists do in a lifetime; two #1 albums on the Billboard chart, a reality series which won her millions of fans worldwide and a Hollywood movie role alongside Carrie Fisher (Star Wars). Now Ashlee returns with her second album 'I Am Me' on 6th February and new single 'Boyfriend' on 30th January, released through Geffen Records.

The first single to be taken from 'I Am Me' is 'Boyfriend', a tale of jealousy and feeling on the back foot. As with her 2004 debut album 'Autobiography', Ashlee has teamed up with producer John Shanks (Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Melissa Etheridge). Ashlee co-wrote all the songs on the album with Shanks and Kara DioGuardi, which explores dark themes side by side with plenty of flamboyant fun. "Everything has evolved," Ashlee says. "My voice has matured, and so have the situations I've been through."

Other highlights on the album include: 'In Another Life'; the reggae-flavoured 'Burnin Up' and 'Coming Back For More' which explore the notion of love as an all-consuming passion, while the hip-hop influenced 'L.O.V.E' is sure to become a girls night out party anthem. Others like 'Say Goodbye' and the ballad 'Catch Me When I Fall', explore the feelings of depression and isolation. "That's one of my favorites," says Ashlee of the latter. "I wrote the lyrics when I was going through a hard time. I continued working through a feeling of loneliness and emptiness." The moving 'Beautifully Broken', is a celebration of healing and wholeness. Ashlee says, "It's about wiping away the tears, putting my shoulders back and keeping on going. I realized it's OK to be broken."

Her debut 'Autobiography' has sold four million copies worldwide, reaching Gold status in the UK, and spawning the Top 5 single 'Pieces Of Me'. Currently performing to sold-out crowds on her US tour, it is clear that on the new album, Ashlee at 21 has left girlhood behind and has revealed her growth as both singer and songwriter.
