Former Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan, with his Eddie Vedder like vocals tells the tale of the power of feelings of love and how ’Weak and Powerless’ they can leave you feeling, backed by Sound Garden and Smashing Pumpkins style instrumentals. This maudlin and emotive track could breathe life into the post grunge genre and tempt people into trying the ‘Thirteenth Step’ album, which this single is extracted from.

The lyrics sang with heart and feeling will leave the listener melancholic and heavy hearted:

“Dig into the rhythm and the echo of a solitary silent one.
That pushes me along and leaves me so desperate and revenant so weak and
powerless over you.”

Keenan’s vocals are compelling to listen to as they ooze sincerity like so many grunge artists before him. I fail to see the comparisons to Chad Kroegger that many critics have tried to bring him down about.
