Stimulus Records presents the new EP from Icelandic trio AMPOP.
Biggi (guitars, vocals), Kjartan (keyboards) and Jon Geir (drums) have already released two successful albums in Iceland. Their last album 'Made For Market' was acknowledged by local critics as the best Icelandic album of 2003.
Moving away from the electronic influences of their earlier work the band have created a more organic and emotive sound. Their music is alive with exciting contrasts, ethereal keyboards, a driving rhythm section and underpinning it all perfectly judged melody.
The quality of their songs has already caught the attention of key DJs within the UK. Radio 1's Zane Lowe has played 'My Delusions' several times and invited the band to perform live on his show from SXSW, Austin, Texas. Huw Stephens and Vic Galloway at Radio 1 and Mark Radcliffe at Radio 2 have also championed the band on their shows.
Over the last few months the band have supported KT Tunstall at a Radio 2 event in Aberdeen, played alongside Union of Knives at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London and performed back home in Reykjavik for Airwaves Festival. They will be playing at the Islington Bar Academy, London on 28th November to coincide with the release of their self-titled EP. Their new album 'My Delusions' is set to be released in 2006.
