'It Could Be You' came to light about two years ago when the then unsigned Alexis sat down and made a wish list of other writers and producers she would like to work with. At the top of a short list sat one name: Billy Steinberg, the man who had famously co-written Like A Virgin, I'll Stand By You and I Drove All Night. Still without a record deal Alexis set off on her own to Los Angeles (the first time she had left the UK, with a flight paid for with the proceeds of a temping job on a building site) to track Billy down. After Alexis spent many weeks literally knocking on doors to track him down, the reclusive songwriter eventually agreed to meet this persistent young English girl. There was no gift of the gab necessary – her songs did all the talking. She wanted a classic torch song and 'It Could Be You' is the result of their transatlantic partnership.

It Could Be You' has already been the subject of bidding wars for bands fighting it out to try and get the track for themselves. Knowing she was the proud owner of a very special piece of music, the now Universal signed, Alexis (who has previously written for the likes of Kylie and Rachel Stevens) sagely kept the track for her own record, an album of equally stunning tracks, 'Cocoon'.
