Addicted To You is the first single to be taken from Alec
Empires forthcoming album Intelligence & Sacrifice.
Released
April 1, it has all the makings of a classic rock track of the
future
- a deadly riff, a menacing vocal and a chorus that sticks in
your
brain like it was nailed there by Schwarzenegger in a bad mood.
Alec fuses unforgiving whiplash hooks and deadly beats overlaid with an icing of Japanese industrial noise to create a record which acknowledges Rocks rich history then kicks it firmly into the twenty first century. Alec was the founding member of Atari Teenage Riot who have released four albums. Alec also has a demanding solo career, which has seen the release of three solo hardcore albums, five electronic albums and numerous singles and E.P.s. During the course of his career Alec has sold over a million records worldwide. He is unique in having gained the respect and admiration of artists as diverse as The Beastie Boys, Beck, Rage Against The Machine, Wu Tang Clan, Derek Bailey and Merzbow. The single is issued in two formats. The enhanced CD1 features the original version of Addicted To You, an eight and a half minute version of Killing Machine and the John Hillcoat, (Nick Caves Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow Depeche Modes I Feel Loved), directed video for Addicted To You. CD2 features electrifying raw mixes of Addicted To You, Everything Starts With A Fuck, and the title track of the album, Intelligence & Sacrifice. Amid complaints about Pop Idol and the quest for the identistar, Empires the kind of figure we always fondly hope will be the next big thing: freakish, powerful and exactly how the old people thought pop music sounded. (NME 2001) The wish is granted. www.digitalhardcore.com | ![]() |
