Proof positive that Hollywood stardom does not automatically mean that you produce dreadful music that is only allowed to see the light of day because of your fame. Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars manage to exploit that often-missed niche, by producing intelligent-sounding rock music that avoids the genre clichés, and just plain rocks!

This is an album that cleverly and slickly combines soaring vocals and huge choruses with elements of angst-driven rock. 30STM have been compared in varying degrees to the Deftones and Tool. Whilst there are certain similarities, especially in terms of vocal delivery, 30STM offer a far more melodic package, far more suited to commercial success than to underground hero status. This is bright enough to shake the most jaded of listeners from their winter blues.
