Katy Perry's debut UK release is titled 'Kissed a Girl' and is released on 1st September 2008 through Virgin Records. Though still a new name in the UK, Perry has had much success in America. She's had over 7.6 million music plays on myspace and has reached number 2 in the American singles chart. The single was produced by Dr. Luke who's previously worked with Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne.

'I think people can appreciate a songwriter who shows different sides,' says Katy Perry. 'The whole angst thing is cool, but if that's all you've got, it's just boring. Everything I write, whether it's happy or sad, has a sense of humour to it. Someone told me the other day that I'm a bit like Lucille Ball. They said, 'You look pretty put together on the outside, but inside there's just something a bit wrong.''
