M83 - We Own The Sky Single Review

Review of M83’s single We Own The Sky.

M83 aka Anthony Gonzalez hailing from France has created an 80’s sounding track with ‘We Own The Sky’ very much in the vein of Cocteau Twins. It has that light ethereal vibe and emotive sensibility that came with some eighties music. It is quite sophisticated in its own way and does stick to a certain niche of influences. It’s a sound I’ve heard before and he does it quite well. It’s certainly cool and a sound people could feel inspired by. ‘Je Vous Hais Petites Filles’ is all about sound and mood as ‘Graveyard Girl’ has a bit more ‘gravel’ that could appeal to more. M83 are displaying their influences on their sleeves and not compromising. There is talent here although I’m unsure everyone will get it.
