The Secret Life Of Bees is based on the book by Sue Monk Kidd. The story is set in Civil Rights era South Carolina, Lily Owens is a fourteen year old girl who never knew her mother, Lily and her carer set out on a trip to try and find her mother. The two find themselves on the door of Boatwright sisters who take the girls in and they both find a new lease of life, Lily finally finds herself part of a real family.
