Set in a German Protestant village in late 1913 - just before the start of World War 1 - The White Ribbon looks at the lives of the families who live the village. Most of the children are a part of the church choir, which is led by the schoolteacher. As strange accidents keep on happening in the village and people keep on getting hurt, the schoolteacher decides he's going to look into the mysteries to discover who is to blame and what exactly is going on in the village.
