Carlton Garrett is the son of baseball legend Kyle Garrett, growing up with his father played a minor role in his life, his mother was his main parent. Now a young adult Carlton's mother Katherine is growing ill and she wishes to see Kyle before she goes into surgery. Carton vows to his mother she will track down his father and take him to visit her.

Carlton is joined on his trip by his close friend Lucy. The pair find Kyle and he agrees to fly back home and visit Katherine, due to a lost passport it appears flying is out of the question, the only solution is to drive!
