In 1962 The Tornados were the first British band to get a #1 in America, Joe Meek was the man behind the group and more importantly, the song Telstar. Years later, Meek was often noted as a pioneer for inventive independent production.

Despite becoming a huge success in his profession, Meek lead a dark life, and it ended with him finally taking his life aged 37. Telstar perfectly documents one of the British music industries pivotal points.

Actor Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) makes his directorial debut with Telstar.
