Julie Powell is a woman going through a bit of an identity crisis, She works for an insurance firm and seems to be stuck at the same point on the ladder. Lacking the experience of a professional chef, Julie is an enthusiastic amateur who decides she's going to cook all of Julia Child's recipes from her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking over the course of one year. Giving up all her free time Julie carried out her culinary experiment and documented the results on her blog.

Switching between the life of Julia Child when her career was first starting out and Julie's current situation, it sees two very different women both looking for life fulfilment through food.
