Spin the Bottle is awfully chilly, Big Chilly, if you know what I mean.
Actually, while it's sold as a "five friends get back together" picture, Spin
the Bottle is hardly that. When the high school loser invites his tormentors
to his woodsy pad 10 years after they've graduated, one might think something
is amiss. Alas, our four unsuspecting dupes figure, "What the hell?" and head
out to the vacation spot for a long weekend. Of course, there's no way Jonah
(Holter Graham) has anything up his sleeve...
Four more asinine party guests you couldn't ask for -- including the
now-engaged Bev and Ted (Kim Walter and Mitchell Riggs), the sexy Alex (Jessica
Faller), and the alt-mopey Rachel (Heather Goldenhersh). None of these
characters are remarkably compelling, but more importantly, none of them are
even remotely humorous, either, and a little comic relief is precisely what
Spin the Bottle needs.
Unfortunately, the film is also never believable, from an improptu round of the
titular game to an unlikely conversion to homosexuality, all in the course of a
single evening. The film is short enough that your attention never has that
far to wane, but that doesn't mean it's worth the time.
