See How They Run Movie Review

San Francisco (where I live) has always been a bit silly in the politics department. Not an election goes by that isn't without controversy, but none perhaps is as memorable as the 2000 mayoral election, which saw the three major contenders flummoxed by a last-minute "write-in" candidacy from supervisor Tom Ammiano. Ammiano did so well that he took second place and forced a runoff with incumbent Willie Brown, though eventually he lost. Was it a publicity stunt or a savvy policital move? All sides of the argument are heard here, though none are very coherent, as Kelly Duane and Emily Morse dutifully capture the behind-the-scenes and the campaigning of the candidates. What is there to learn from See How They Run, aside from the obvious notion that politics is a joke? Hell if I know.
