Points for a descriptive title: This is where Pooh and friends discover the
Heffalump, a purple elephant heretofore thought to be mythical in the Hundred
Acre Wood.
About an hour long, Heffalump didn't grab my two-year old, who thought the
elephant was cute but then wandered away for programming on another TV where
more actually happens.
The story involves a mysterious creature (see title) which may or may not be
wreaking havoc around the 'Wood -- namely eating honey and messing up Tigger's
painting. Is this xenophobia or is it really time for a manhunt? Er,
elephanthunt? Soon a baby Heffalump is really found, and when Piglet tries to
capture it with a rope he learns a small lesson in will vs. physical mass.
Ultimately, the animals have to learn that the Heffalump is not their enemy but
just another talking animal that wants to romp and play.
Songs are staid, and the story is decidedly obvious. After all, even a toddler
found it too uninteresting to stick around.
