How could anyone produce this a film like this, and think it would be a hit? I
can't understand how film's like these continue to be made. Needless to say, I
was not especially impressed with Love Stinks. Yes, it stunk.
Seth (French Stewart), a TV sitcom writer, meets a wonderful girl named Chelsea
(Bridgette Wilson). She's beautiful, sweet, kind and completely psycho. When
she starts pressuring him towards marriage, Seth tries to distance himself. To
Seth's surprise, (the audiences forethought) she won't take no for an answer.
Conflict swells and the two become enemies. Here begins a trail of predictable
sequences, showing the two getting even with one another.
With the exception of one or two cheap laughs (and an Elvis impersonator) this
"comedy" unfortunately fails. Nothing characters, extremely weak writing and a
beyond sub-par plot build up to a big Hollywood mess.
What more can I say about a movie I was about to walk out on. Bottom line, Love
Stinks is a poorly written romantic comedy wanna be, that falls completely
flat. Even French Stewart's unique humor is not enough to save the film. Worst
of all, this movie is just not fun to watch. I really don't like bashing
movies, and I don't do it very often, but I strongly suggest you avoid this
movie. Don't waste your time and money on Love Stinks.
Something rotten in the state of cinema.
