Contests like the one pictured in Hands on a Hardbody happen all the time: Keep
one hand on a truck longer than 23 other people and you get to drive home on
it. This modern take on the dance-a-thon (see They Shoot Horses, Don't They?)
is captured in all its oddity and grandeur by documentarian S.R. Bindler,
interviewing the contestants during their breaks along with observers,
handicappers, and psychologists, all of whom agree this is one crazy event.
Best part: The different strategies (from a juice and fish regimen to simple
prayer) the contestants use to win. The movie is extremely rough around the
edges but definitely worth watching, if only to prove to you the lengths some
people will go to in order to get something for nothing.
Aka Hands on a Hard Body.
